Direct MD/MS Admission
firstly, let me clear to you that qualifying for NEET-PG is compulsory for direct MD/MS admissions as well.
A doctor can only apply for management quota admission if he or she is eligible to apply for the NEET. Direct admission begins in the last round known as the mop-up round. Those who score high on NEET-PG will be invited to the first three rounds.
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the NEET-PG exam once a year in computer-based mode.
❓Is it possible to get admission through the management quota?
- One can apply for medical seats through the management quota but he will be able to get the seat through the stray vacancy counseling. Direct admission in PG medical is practicable as after completing all the rounds of counseling, a maximum no. of seats remain empty in private and deemed universities which are later allotted to the students.
Eligibility Criteria for direct admission in MD MS:
- An MBBS degree with a minimum of 50% marks must be obtained from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India.
- Candidates must have completed their mandatory rotational internship by April 31 of the relevant year.
Qualifying for the NEET-PG Exam
NEET-PG applications do not have an upper or lower age limit. NEET has not specified an age limit for candidates, so any candidate who meets the other eligibility requirements can apply.
The candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% for the general category and 40-45% for SC/ST/OBC and PWD categories.
If we consider the NEET-PG 2021(last year) marks it was 302 for general category whereas for SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories it was 265 out of 800 marks.
