of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) http://www.jipmer.edu.in/ , a premier medical institute, situated in the
southern part of the country is one of the finest educational institutions of
India. Located in the Union Territory of Puducherry (Formerly known as
Pondicherry), along the coast of Bay of Bengal, the college was established in
1823 by the French, boasts a campus spread over 195 acres. The college
administration was undertaken by the Government of India in 1956 and later
named as Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in
1964.
The college has an
annual intake of 145 students for graduation while 75 candidates for
Post-Graduation. Courses offered include MBBS, BSc (Medical Laboratory
Technology), BSc (Allied Medical Sciences- Cardiac Lab
Technology/Dialysis/Neuro/OT), BMRSc (Bachelor of Medical Record Science).
Postgraduate courses include MD, MS, and diplomas in many specialties, MSc in
Medical Biochemistry and PhD in several subjects.
The admission
procedure in the college includes an entrance exam twice a year for post
graduates while once in a year for MBBS, located across various centers in the
country.
The latest
announcement of admission for post graduation has been made, with entrance exam
scheduled for January 2016.
