How to crack NEET and AIIMS?

Those medical aspirants who are planning to take NEET, as well as AIIMS, should channelize their preparation effort equally across all the three core subjects. By now, the student should have identified their areas of strength and areas of improvement in each subject.

The focus area in NEET is on testing the competence of the student in the three core subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). In terms of the weight, Biology has double the weight (maximum marks 360) in comparison to Physics (maximum marks 180) and Chemistry (maximum marks 180). The total marks of the paper are 720.
The focus area in AIIMS is on testing the competence of the student in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Aptitude, and General Knowledge. There will be 200 questions in AIIMS and the test duration is for three and a half hours. Unlike NEET, in AIIMS the weight is the same for all the three core subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). 60 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, 10 questions each in General Knowledge and Aptitude.

Preparation Strategy
On a daily basis, the student should focus on three hours of preparation for Biology, three hours of preparation for Chemistry, three hours of preparation for Physics, half an hour preparation for Aptitude and half an hour preparation for General Knowledge. In order to prepare for the aptitude section, the students can refer to questions asked in the last ten years' AIIMS exam.
A thorough read of the newspaper will suffice for tackling questions related to current affairs in the General Knowledge section of the AIIMS exam. Among the 60 questions in each core subject in AIIMS, 20 questions will be on Assertion Reason type. The questions on Assertion Reason will test the conceptual clarity and reasoning ability of the student.
The students need to put in a lot of effort to get the conceptual clarity and they need to develop reasoning ability to successfully navigate this testing area. The students can refer to questions asked in the last ten years AIIMS exam in order to get familiarised with the nature and complexity of questions in the Assertion Reason section. In the next five weeks, the focus should be to have all the topics in Biology as the area of strength, 85% of topics in Chemistry as the area of strength and 75% of topics in Physics as the area of strength.
